Social Media Tools For Business

If you have a website or a blog then it’s highly likely that you already have Google Analytics installed, and if not- you should!
Google Analytics was launched back in November 2005 and is a completely free enterprise analytics product. That means it doesn’t just tell you how many hits you have to your website- it tells you how many actual visitors you have, where they’re from, how long they stay on the website, where they come from and much more!
GA was radically overhauled back in 2011 to include custom dashboards and real time statistics and it also has a very powerful social media analytics report built in. If you don’t track your visits and visitors on your website then how can you tell if your social media presence is actually making a difference? Whatever business you are in, Google Analytics is a must. Sure there are other analytics tools that you can add in addition that can do some cool things like Crazy Egg, but I think for the majority of websites GA is the tool to use.

Buffer allows you to post to Twitter, Facebook profiles and pages, LinkedIn profiles and groups (currently not company pages) and the niche social network app.net. The only big omission is Google+ but I’ll come on to that later. Whenever you add a post to Buffer you choose which network or networks you want to post it to (for example you might want to post to your Facebook Page, your LinkedIn profile and a LinkedIn group) and it gets added to each network’s queue.

Google+ is actually the 2nd biggest social network after Facebook! As well as that, Google is taking into account who you are (i.e. authorship) much more seriously in search results and will be using AuthorRank as one of the factors in ranking your web pages. It might still be early days for Google+, but my advice is to start now- even if you only share one or two posts a week.

If you are only posting about yourself then you’re missing the point of social network- it’s about sharing other peoples’ content too. People are more likely to invest in you if you invest in others- especially if you are sharing their content. But, how do you find and keep an eye on that content? I’ve been building up a list of websites and blogs that I want to keep on top of. There are some websites that consistently produce great content- interesting articles that I learn from and want to share with others.

MailChimp is an email marketing and newsletter service with a long and proven track record. When doing research for this article, I couldn’t quite believe that they have been going since 2001- that’s not long after I first started building my own websites!

ManageFlitter (which used to be called Manage Twitter years ago before Twitter asked them to change their name) is a Twitter follower tool. On a basic level it allows you to quickly see who isn’t following you and then having the option of unfollowing these people in bulk. As well as that you can find try and weed out spam followers or irrelevant followers that just clog things up. My favourite feature is the white list- and it’s one that I couldn’t do without.

Tips to Improve Your SEO With Social Media

Build Links With Your Social Channels

Google used to put a high value on link building in their search rankings, no matter what quality of links you were building. When people figured this out and started manipulating rankings with fake or low-quality links to their site, Google started to focus on higher-quality links.

Links on social media are often considered higher-quality links, because social sites have a high web authority from the get-go. Even if your Facebook page is new, it’s likely to rank highly (and maybe even surpass your website) thanks to Facebook’s overall high authority.

It may sound obvious, but make sure that you include a working link to your website not only in your content, but also in every social profile you have. In addition to increasing traffic to your site, it’s also highly valuable for link building.

Grow Your Follower Base

Pages with a lot of high-quality followers rank better in searches. High-quality followers are real followers on your social channels, and a large percentage of them engage or interact with you in some form.

This interaction might be repinning pins, retweeting your content or sending you a tweet, placing reviews on Google+ or engaging with your posts on Facebook.

Social signals are a very real factor when it comes to SEO. Search engines look at social signals to find out how often you’re posting to your social media accounts, how many people interact with you and if there are social-sharing elements available to visitors to your site.

Make Your Content Searchable and Sharable

Pinterest is a great example of a social platform that makes your content both searchable and sharable. Pinterest encourages sharing to a great extent. Users post pins they like to their boards, and share them with other Pinterest users.

Many social accounts give you the option of keeping your content private, or relatively so. On YouTube, you can have unlisted videos, and only people who have links to the videos can watch them. Pinterest allows secret boards, and Twitter gives you the option to have a private profile.

When it comes to your business, you want all of your social accounts to be public, and you want all of your content to be searchable.

For example, for your Facebook profile, you have the option to make your posts searchable in search engines. To do this, go to your Facebook privacy settings and enable the option Do You Want Other Search Engines to Link to Your Timeline?, shown here.

 Use Keywords in Your Posts

Keywords are important for your website, blog and paid ad campaigns, so it should come as no surprise that keywords matter with your social content, too.

On Pinterest, a great way to rank higher in search engines is to use keywords in your pins or boards. Similarly, doing keyword research for YouTube videos can bring in traffic not only to your channel, but also to your website and blog if they’re listed in your profile. Even using keywords in your posts on Facebook can pay off.

This comes back to making sure that your content is searchable. This way, when users search for those keywords, your content will pop up.

#5: Create Local Listings

Make sure your business has a local listing on Google+ and that you include your address and other pertinent information. This allows customers to review your company directly on Google. Also, Google recommends businesses with the highest reviews first.

Conclusion
Using social media as a marketing tool is highly valuable in its own right, but it can offer even more value when you leverage it to increase SEO.
While some changes to SEO algorithms make it challenging to keep up with best practices, one thing that is clear is that social media can make a big impact on your search rankings.

Case in point, Forbes offers two approaches to sign up—clients can pick an informal community or complete a structure. Individuals will quite often pick the less difficult.

HOW TO SET SOCIAL MEDIA GOALS

A fascinating metric—even the name sounds like we're going down the right way!

A captivating metric is novel by they way it can straightforwardly identify with development. There're huge amounts of measurements out there: supporters, preferences, clicks, impressions, and so on. How would you know which social networking measurements merit seeking after as objectives?

Here's the test that we use at Buffer, because of some wonderful exhortation from KISSmetrics prime supporter

We view our metrics as fitting into one of four buckets:

    High traffic, low conversion
    Low traffic, high conversion
    High traffic, high conversion
    Low traffic, low conversion

Should your objective be a target number or a development rate?

How about we say's you need to get more clicks on your tweets.

Do you set an objective to achieve a click rate of 200 clicks every tweet?

Alternately do you set an objective to enhance click rate by 10 percent consistently?

The two thoughts appear to be really near to each other, yet there's really truly a major mentality change here. Development rate proceeds on exponentially. A target is static.

Backpedaling to our illustration from the past area, how about we say's you've set the development rate for Twitter at 10 percent click development every month. On the off chance that you begin at a normal of 100 clicks every tweet, following one month you'd plan to be at 110 clicks every tweet. The following month, you'd need to enhance an alternate 10 percent, so your objective would be 121 clicks every tweet—a 10 percent change from 110. The accompanying month, the objective ascents an alternate 10 percent taking into account the earlier month's rate of 121 clicks every tweet. In six months' chance, you will be expecting to go from 100 clicks every tweet to 176 clicks every tweet—with the development rate proceeding from that point.

Targets are very distinctive. A focus of 200 clicks every tweet may include the same methodologies for arriving at that point as you'd use for development rate. The huge inquiry gets to be: What do you do when you achieve the target?

Target objectives do not have the exponential, consistent development variable of a target rate. In the event that you set a static focus to reach, and in the event that you achieve it, then the onus is there to situated another target or to call it great and proceed onward to the following venture.

In both cases for target number and development rate, you're going in the same bearing; you're simply utilizing diverse attitudes for objective.

How to follow up on a goal
We’ve recently undertaken an exciting new project management style where each of us at Buffer take ownership over different areas. We set our own goals and take responsibility for seeing them through.

One way that we’ve found to follow-up on these goals is to track every big decision with a template of sorts.
